She earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Capital University, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from The Ohio State University, where she was awarded a prestigious full scholarship and fellowship, and a Master of Arts in Church Music from Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Yoyo founded Qian Yoyo Liu Piano Studio in 2007, which has since been rebranded as Yoyo Piano Studio. She is also the founder and former owner of DNA Music Academy, a highly respected music school that she grew into one of Central Ohio's leading private studios. Under her leadership, the academy served hundreds of students and employed a distinguished faculty of more than a dozen master's- and doctoral-level instructors. After building a thriving and well-established program, she successfully transitioned ownership to its new leadership.
As a pianist, Yoyo is an award-winning performer who has received top honors in numerous competitions, including the OMTA/Graves Young Artist Competition and the Women in Music Competition. She has appeared as a featured soloist with the Capital Symphonic Winds and The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra, with performances broadcast on WOSU Classical 101.
An active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA), Yoyo has served as a competition judge, festival adjudicator, and co-chair of the OMTA/Graves Piano Competition. Her students have earned top awards at regional competitions and have consistently received outstanding ratings in Piano Guild and NFMC auditions.
Yoyo is passionate about developing confident, expressive musicians through excellence in teaching and meaningful mentorship. She believes music education extends far beyond technical skills, helping students build discipline, creativity, confidence, and character that will serve them throughout their lives.
Yoyo Piano Studio is founded by an experienced music educator with a remarkable 19 + years tenure of teaching piano. The comprehensive approach fosters discipline, sensitivity, focus, problem-solving skills, and, most importantly, a deep sense of joy in making music. This is a great space to provide more insight into the teaching philosophy and approach, and to share the unique qualities that set the studio apart.
No long term contracts, tuition is billed monthly
Tuition is a flat monthly fee and includes one weekly lesson with your instructor.
Most months, there will be four lessons per month. Some months, five lessons will be included.
Occasionally, observance of major national holidays (New Year’s Eve , Christmas Day, and Thanksgiving) will mean only three lessons are included.
Recitals will replace any lessons already scheduled on that day.
Tuition payment is due on the first day of every month.
After the fourth day of each month, a late fee of $25 will be applied to the student’s account.
In the case that tuition must be prorated, the total fee will be divided by the number of lessons possible in that month, then multiplied by the number of lessons taken.
For example, a new student registers for 30-minute lessons each Monday. They enroll in the middle of a month with four Mondays and will only receive two lessons. $180 divided by the four (4) weeks comes out to $45, which then multiplied by two weeks, results in an invoice of $90. If they enroll in the middle of a month with five Mondays and will only receive two lessons. $180 divided by the five (5) weeks comes out to 36, which then multiplies by two weeks, result in an invoice of $72.
Additional educational materials (books, accessories, supplementary lessons) are not included in monthly tuition.

Students can only qualify for a maximum of two make-up lessons at a time. Any additional absences do not qualify for a make-up lesson.
Make-up lessons can be taken in-person or online.
In the case of a teacher’s absence, a make-up lesson will be issued to the student or a credit will be issued to the student’s account, based on the discretion of Yoyo Piano Studio.
